Last week the Bears scored 59. This week they scored 3, in the wind and rain against Brian Flores' Vikings defense, and the 56-point drop is the largest by any team since 1973. Caleb Williams was carted off with a hamstring injury in the fourth quarter (imaging was clean, and he hasn't been ruled out for Week 3), Colston Loveland caught one pass for three yards, and Rome Odunze and Luther Burden combined for 75 yards. Anybody who started Bears players had a bad Sunday, which in this league is a lot of people.
The good news came Thursday and Sunday night. Josh Allen opened the new Highmark Stadium with three passing touchdowns and two rushing scores in a 41–31 shootout with Detroit, where Jared Goff (327 yards, four touchdowns) and Amon-Ra St. Brown (9 for 142 and two scores) put up numbers in a loss. Jaxon Smith-Njigba caught nine passes for 155 yards and three touchdowns from Drew Lock, including an 82-yarder. Dak Prescott went 26 of 31 with four touchdowns and passed Tony Romo as the Cowboys' all-time leader, with CeeDee Lamb going for 153 and two. Davante Adams had 195 yards and two scores on Monday night with Puka Nacua out, Matthew Stafford threw four touchdowns, and Patrick Mahomes threw for 382 in an overtime win over the Colts in which Travis Kelce topped 100 yards for the first time since 2024.
Now the bad. Jaxson Dart hurt his knee on the Giants' opening drive and gave way to Jameis Winston. Jayden Daniels dislocated his left elbow again, the same injury that wrecked his 2025. DJ Moore left Thursday's game with a shoulder, Jayden Reed was carted off with a neck injury, Dallas Goedert hurt a knee, Saquon Barkley had a stinger, Nico Collins is out about two weeks with a hamstring, and Brock Bowers isn't expected back until Week 4. Ashton Jeanty managed 44 yards on 14 touches, Bijan Robinson had 81 total yards against a Carolina defense that gave up 59 points a week ago, Justin Jefferson caught three passes, and Justin Herbert fumbled three times and threw two picks to a fifth-round rookie.
